GMSR Prologue by Emma

"The prologue was a total of 8.1 miles (7.3 miles of it - 1730 foot elevation gain). I managed to stay with the front pack for maybe half of that, and then I lost steam. What an understatement! I couldn't feel my legs and my lungs were rebelling mercilessly. Meanwhile, my amazing teammates, Andrea and Liz, whizzed by me in the final 2 kms, and I was both in awe and despondency. Well, maybe they didn't whiz, but they were moving forward and I was somehow riding backwards. Liz finished 19th, Andrea 22nd, and I crossed the line 25th. The winner was a very nice lady from Toronto, Ann Thompson. By the way, the Cat 4 winner's time was approximately the same as one of the last riders in the Pro/1/2/3 field.
